Planning and Modelling Software
The Problem
The ISO 28560-2 standard allows a lot of flexibility to cope with different scenarios. For example:
- Initial procurement of books
- Individual loans
- Inter-library loans
- Sets of items
It is important to determine the most efficient configuration of data to support each scenario.
In addition, it is helpful to ensure that all parties involved use these configurations.
The Solution
Our Planning and Modelling Software allows:
- A template to be built to match each encoding scenario
- The specification, within each template, of:
- the selection of data elements to be used
- the sequence of data elements, to place the most frequently accessed earlier in the encoding.
- distribution of templates to all parties
- selection from predefined commercial tag stock or specification of custom tag parameters, such as:
- user memory capacity
- block size
- hard- or soft-coded DSFID
- simulation of encoding with no need to purchase any tags or encoding devices
- trialling as many configurations as required. Information will be provided regarding any breaches of ISO 28560-2 rules and if resulting encoding will not fit in the specified memory capacity.
The software supports:
- All ISO 28560-2 data elements, including those that have encoding rules specific to that standard:
- ISIL
- Content Parameter
- Set Information
- Selective locking of individual data elements
- Hard- and soft-coded DSFID
- All relevant block sizes and memory capacities
