With 42 million items of baggage delayed (some lost) at an estimated cost of $3.8 million in 2007, baggage handling is a serious problem for the airline industry. Convergent Software Limited has decided to upgrade the software that it released earlier in the year to support the IATA RP1740C RFID Airline Baggage Handling Standard.
The new software still supports all the modelling and diagnostic facilities that were previously available. By introducing support for encoding templates, it is better able to support locally defined rules.
